  1. Allow asynchronous (written) peer instruction

I'm imagining the following scenario: for homework (or JiTT) students get self paced questions. Those responses which cannot be graded automatically are assigned to peers for written feedback or grading.

I could expand on details if required.

  2. Self-test option:allow feedback at the option level and don't display correct answer till they completed or exhausted attempts.

Allow students to get instant feedback but not the correct answer. This could help them when they repeat the questions and help to guide them.

  4. Make it possible to change the order of the (self-paced) modules that the student sees.

On the instructors side you can order it by date, type or name but that does not seem to propagate through to the student view.

  7. Allow LC to do surveys in survey research oriented courses (American politics and the like)

In lecture courses (say over 50 people) related to public opinion (but generalizes a bit), it would be nice if LC could be useful to both do but then easily analyze in-class surveys. Administering the survey question is easy (assuming anonymouty is not required) but then it would be nice to be able to run simple crosstab and at least bivariate regressions. The basic idea is that LC would, with a click, dump a spreadsheet in a form easy to input one's favorite stats program. Ideally this would be a spreadsheet of all past responses for all past class sessions,…

  8. When students don't select a seat...

If a student doesn't select a seat when they log in, their answers do not show on the seat chart. Could any student not selecting a seat be given a different shape (circle?) and placed (a quasi-seat) at one edge of the class. That way, instructors could see how they were doing, even if they were trying to "hide" or be anonymous.

  11. eliminate the left-click/right-click system for creating answers to Direction questions (for people using Mac laptops)

To create the correct answer on a Direction question, you are supposed to left click where the vector begins and right click where the vector ends. But on a Mac laptop there is no left- or right-clicking option on the trackpad. Usually control-click works as a right-click on these machines but it is buggy in the Direction questions; control-click does not create the green dot but rather moves the red dot around somewhat randomly.

  12. Change the default "Sharing and Copyright" setting to a Creative Commons license

Right now the default "Sharing and Copyright" setting is an all-rights-reserved copyright statement. Changing this to a Creative Commons license, for example an Attribution Share-Alike, would make it easier to share questions among instructors. One option would be to give the user a group of radio buttons in this setting to choose what kind of license s/he wants -- full-on copyright or one of the range of Creative Commons licenses.

  13. allow for review of student responses after self-paced module completed

Sometimes, I like to push out a few interrelated questions at once (e.g., 4-5 questions related to the same problem). I like the self-paced option for this, because doing them synchronously is a bit stop/start. Unfortunately, there is currently no way for us to review student responses in class after they have answered a group of questions in the self-paced module.

  14. Make it possible to "pause" a session to edit or clarify a question (self-paced). Students get confused if there are multiple sessions.

Make it possible to "pause" a session to edit or clarify a question (self-paced). Students get confused if there are multiple sessions for the same module, but sometimes during delivery it becomes apparent that I have stated a question in a way that is unclear or misleading. I would like to be able to fix that without stopping the session and starting a new one.

  15. Allow questions (more than one) to be designated as "alternatives" to a question

This would allow a teacher to quickly find a variation on a question that they have already used. Very useful for re-testing a class who did not get the first question without much explanation. Would also be useful if students could run through a "lecture" a second, third, etc. time, but seeing different questions each time. Would let a self-paced student verify they really know the material now.

  16. "Monetize" lectures or questions, say $1 per lecture?

If you really want to encourage people to post useful questions, create a market for them! Once a lecture has been purchased, it could be used as-is, or be edited modified by the purchaser to suit their own needs. The copyright notice would always include the original author, but would change to also include the new author as changes are made.

Not only could this allow people looking for questions to see which have been purchased most often (providing a more credible measure of popularity), but it would also provide question authors with funding to offset their student fees and/or…

  17. give the student the opportunity to help the teacher

Is it possible that the students suggest questions for the teacher, and rate their favorite questions?
