  1. Please put the actual items back in the ranking prortion of the ranking questions

At some point in July 2016, the way ranking questions are presented changed.

Formerly, the actual items to be ranked appeared in the drop-down boxes presented to the students.
Now, when the student tries to answer, they are present with "first answer", "second answer", "third answer", ...
This requires that the student constantly refer back to the list of items. This is confusing and cumbersome, particularly on a device with a small screen.
i suspect this is a programming error in which the program was toald to actually display the words "first answer" rather than reference the actual first answer. …

  3. In Team Based Mode, provide separate results for the individual and team round

Learning Catlytics' team-based mode is closely modelled on Larry Michelson's 'Team Based Learning' (TBL) which I've successfully used for many years supported by 'manual' technology (portable scanner/laptop). The conversion to digital is welcomed.

The Results ('Review Results') from the Team-Based mode need to
provide a score for each student from the Individual Round separately to that from the Team Round. Presently only a single combined (individual plus team) result is available. Being able to see the difference (almost always improvement) between individual and team scores is vital as it clearly conveys to students the knowledge gain from collaborative learning.

    And…

  4. TRAT graphical results review

The nice thing about a TRAT card is that it can be quickly scanned to see how many attempts were made on each question as well as what choices were selected. I am not seeing that when I review results from TRAT questions with multiple attempts. It may show correct or incorrect quickly, but you have to mouse over to see that they may have selected what choices were made. A quick graphical outcome that lists teams and responses selected and sequence they made would help facilitation after the TRAT

As the instructor you start the session, go the question and then need to deliver the question. Unfortunately all of those actions are visible to my students since a projector automatically mirrors all monitors. I have three potential work around 1) not use power point and instead try to use another presentation software, 2) have a second computer set up NOT attached to the display system, 3) just not have my answers indicated and then AFTER students have submitted their answers I then go back and indicate the correct answer. Option 3 is the easiest. It would however be nice…

  6. Gradebook update - freeze title pane as you scroll

Is it possible to freeze the title pane as you scroll down through the gradebook so that you can view the assignment title as you scroll down into the subsequent pages where it is no longer visible at the top. This is essential for classes with larger enrolments.

  7. The ability to "change categories" of learning catalytics sessions in MyMathLab.com

Right now the default setting for learning catalytics sessions is "homework" when it appears in the mymathlab.com gradebook with no way to change it. I have my gradebook set up so that homework, tests, quizzes, attendance and "other projects" are categorized separately and grade weighted. I was trying to get LC to show up under "projects".

Once a LC session is live it only shows up under "homework". You cannot change its category, and you cannot "omit" results from mymathlab.com gradebook if you decide not to include the grade in the score at that time (though you may change your…

Please create a way to do post-test analysis such as searching results for question ‘tags’ for specific learning outcomes, learning goals, and Bloom’s taxonomy, etc. This would facilitate generating reports regarding student/class success at meeting specific learning outcomes.

  10. Don't let students review questions that were not delivered

LC is currently allowing students to review all questions in a Module, whether the questions were delivered or not. This is a problem in the following scenario:
    1) I create a module with 10 questions that I set up as an Instructor-Led, Synchronous response type, and with the option checked to let students review their performance.
    2) During the class, I start a session for the module but only get through 7 questions (whether because I run out of time or I decide to change the focus during that class period).
    3) I stop the session at the end of…

  11. Randomize order of questions in self-paced modules.

I would like the ability to randomize the order of questions in self-paced assignments so that they can be used for in-class electronic testing. In a large class with limited chaperones, it is possible for students to collaborate by moving through a self-paced assignment together and watching the others submissions. Randomizing the order of the questions would make collaboration very difficult since they will not see the same questions at the same time.

  12. Including a Finished button on self paced assignments so that they could be used for in class quizzes and exams.

I would like to use LC for in class quizzes and exams. Since I use it regularly in the classroom, students are familiar with using LC, and it has a rich question set, making it ideal for in class electronic testing. If I use a self-paced assignment as as in class quiz, I need some way for students to submit the quiz when they are done that will prevent them from continuing to work on the quiz. For example, in an hour long quiz some students will finish early. They could leave the classroom, log back into LC (if they…

  13. Allow the export of the "Attendance Information" spreadsheet

Sometimes we have wireless issues so students can't log their answers, but we want to give them credit for attending the class.

  15. Allow instructors to open several modules simultaneously

If I want students to be able to do targeted preparation for a midterm or final exam, I might create 5 modules, each based on material from a single chapter. The student who wanted to concentrate on one chapter at a time could do the self-paced tests when they were studying.

  16. show group responses as the answer and not A, B or C etc..

When in a group round, in Team based delivery. there is an option for students to see the previous individual answers of their team mates by clicking "Show Group Responses"

This then shows the participants names with A, B or C etc and if the responses are random, the letter can correspond to different answers.

If it showed what the answers that were selected in the individual round that would allow students to argue the merits of the answers and not just "what was answer D for you?"

  17. Mobile app for Learning Catalytics

Once students are registered to use MasteringBiology, students could download the app and access Learning Catalytics without having to re-enter their login and password. --Tanya Soule, IPFW

  18. Add an extra discpline

Can we please have the "Auditing" discipline added under the Business - Accounting area? It is a separate topic and we'd love to be able to both put our questions in this area (instead of the general Accounting area) and search for new questions.

  19. Make the grade book more user-friendly

Make the grade book more user-friendly for students.
Allow students to see an overall grade: percentage of questions answered correctly and percentage of questions answered. It is very confusing to students to see how their learning catalytics grade will be calculated.
