    • Allow author testing of questions

      For some questions (region, direction) it is often difficult to tell whether you have set up the question properly. It would be great if the author could "test" the question, somewhat like being in student view except just for that question and seeing immediately whether the answer is right or wrong, so that we could play with typical student errors and make sure that they end up being appropriately marked.

      • change excel headers in download

        Place the point value for a module/column in the header of the download spreadsheet! Currently, the points appear in the online gradebook, but once downloaded to csv spreadhseet, those points are gone from the header and I have to to the online gradebook and transfer that information by hand for each column - arrggh!

        • Please put the actual items back in the ranking prortion of the ranking questions

          At some point in July 2016, the way ranking questions are presented changed.
          Formerly, the actual items to be ranked appeared in the drop-down boxes presented to the students.
          Now, when the student tries to answer, they are present with "first answer", "second answer", "third answer", ...
          This requires that the student constantly refer back to the list of items. This is confusing and cumbersome, particularly on a device with a small screen.

            • Matching Question Options display

              In Matching Questions, the Options that appear in the drop-down menus should be the wording of the Options the question author types in instead of "1st choice," "2nd choice," 3rd choice," etc. It would be clearer to students which option they are selecting.

              • Set response bars with 0% back to size zero

                Since recently, bars showing the percentage of responses all start with a certain size, even though they represent 0%. This is very misleading and makes it harder for instructors to see if there were actually wrong answers at the end of a question delivery.

                • Make the PPT upload useable

                  I tried out the PPT upload option today. Great idea but the execution makes it useless. PPT is so compressed that it's tiny and very low quality. The fonts are messed-up so the text elements overlap. Lack of PPT integration is the number one issue my faculty have with LC and the PPT is too problematic for me to suggest it to them.

                  My suggestion is to not compress the PPT files or compress them less so they can be full-screen and high quality. Otherwise this feature is useless.

                  • In Team Based Mode, provide separate results for the individual and team round

                    Learning Catlytics' team-based mode is closely modelled on Larry Michelson's 'Team Based Learning' (TBL) which I've successfully used for many years supported by 'manual' technology (portable scanner/laptop). The conversion to digital is welcomed.

                    The Results ('Review Results') from the Team-Based mode need to
                    provide a score for each student from the Individual Round separately to that from the Team Round. Presently only a single combined (individual plus team) result is available. Being able to see the difference (almost always improvement) between individual and team scores is vital as it clearly conveys to students the knowledge gain from collaborative learning.

                            Allow changing the due date on an assignment even after the session has launched. Sometimes you might want to push back the time a session closes for students but you can't do that without closing down the session currently.

                              Currently, the students see the total number of points only after the session has been closed. It would be helpful, if the students saw the number of points of each question, while it is displayed. This mainly refers to the response type "self paced" (and similar).

                              • Gradebook update - freeze title pane as you scroll

                                Is it possible to freeze the title pane as you scroll down through the gradebook so that you can view the assignment title as you scroll down into the subsequent pages where it is no longer visible at the top. This is essential for classes with larger enrolments.

                                • The ability to "change categories" of learning catalytics sessions in MyMathLab.com

                                  Right now the default setting for learning catalytics sessions is "homework" when it appears in the mymathlab.com gradebook with no way to change it. I have my gradebook set up so that homework, tests, quizzes, attendance and "other projects" are categorized separately and grade weighted. I was trying to get LC to show up under "projects".

Unfortunately all of those actions are visible to my students since a projector automatically mirrors all monitors. I have three potential work around 1) not use power point and instead try to use another presentation software, 2) have a second computer set up NOT attached to the display system, 3) just not have my answers indicated and then AFTER students have submitted their answers I then go back and indicate the correct answer.                                     • Allow for the managment of multiple sections within a single course

                                      I often teach 4-5 sections of the same course in a semester. I do not set up 5 different mastering courses. That's too much to keep track of. All of my sections get the same course ID, and within Mastering I place them into groups based on sections for easy gradebook filtering. This doesn't integrate with learning catalytics so well. Since all students are in the same masteringclass, they all get placed into the same learning catalytics course. The problem arises when it comes to grades.

                                      To simplify, say I have 2 sections. One meets monday/wednesday, the other meets tuesday/thursday.

                                      • Don't let students review questions that were not delivered

                                        LC is currently allowing students to review all questions in a Module, whether the questions were delivered or not. This is a problem in the following scenario:
                                        1) I create a module with 10 questions that I set up as an Instructor-Led, Synchronous response type, and with the option checked to let students review their performance.
                                        2) During the class, I start a session for the module but only get through 7 questions (whether because I run out of time or I decide to change the focus during that class period).

                                        • TRAT graphical results review

                                          The nice thing about a TRAT card is that it can be quickly scanned to see how many attempts were made on each question as well as what choices were selected. I am not seeing that when I review results from TRAT questions with multiple attempts. It may show correct or incorrect quickly, but you have to mouse over to see that they may have selected what choices were made. A quick graphical outcome that lists teams and responses selected and sequence they made would help facilitation after the TRAT
